“Speak Up” is a project that seeks to understand the problem of Aalborg East in corporation with the project 9220. The problem investigated in this project is the missing or misunderstood communication in the area.

The installation is called “Speak Up” because it gives an opportunity for the people on the field to speak up. The aim is to make the ordinary citizen the narrators of their own story. The participants become the narrator of their own story through communicative acting in the piece. To start the thinking of there own story and thereby wake up their self-awareness the installation asks question when the participants entering it. The questions are self-reflective and seek to wake up a self-awareness, which could open up people for telling their own story. The questions are “Who are you?” “Where do you come from?” “What do you come from?” “Who do you want to be?” “What to you want to be?” “Where do you want to go?”
