Semester Start Fall 2014

Dear New Students, Dear Students, dear Staff,

Welcome back! Welcome to a new year and welcome to our new building and new setting. Just as the ArT study is about creativity within a changing field of technologies, cultural fashions and needs, the coming year will offer us different challenges.
One is obviously how to make this new building our own. That job starts Tuesday the 2nd of September. We now have three large classrooms, a wetlab, an electronic lab and a FabLab at our exclusive disposal. Use these rooms as much as possible, they are here for you. In the process of making this building our new home, I urge you to leave your mark at and in the building. How is of course the question. There are certain house-rules that we need to comply with. But I am also certain we’ll find ways to set colour and energy to this place. Take it as a challenge. Ask me for advice if you are uncertain.
Now, another challenge is that any new building needs time and patience to develop its atmosphere and functionality. Please beware that it might take some days before all details will fall into place and everything will run smooth. I have gotten the dean’s assurance that everything is on its way
Concerning your studies things are looking OK for the fall semester. We have recently encountered a few budget related challenges, but we have managed to keep the same number of lectures as well as supervision hours. Mind you that the lectures will be a bit shorter, and they will also follow the new time-scheme implemented at AAU. Some lectures will therefore start 08.15 am in the morning.
Last year we got a great new art.aau.dk homepage. Please use it, spread it as well as our name. It is an extremely important portrait of us, who we are and who we want to become. Also, please use our everyday tool Moodle and ArT page on Facebook. These represent an important social glue in a hectic study situation. For updates and news to our ArT homepage, please contact Zane Cerpina.
If you have any questions, issues or challenges you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to make contact with me. It is my wish and duty as your studyleader to make sure we have the best studies ever.
Again, welcome to ArT. I look forward to our time together,

Ståle Stenslie
Studyleader and Obel Professor of ArT
