The artwork is the context of an experience with a focus on an interaction between a human and a plant. The experience is an artistic exploration in human-plant relationship and emerging scientific findings in plant research.

The experience consists of an empty dark room approximately 20 square metres big with a plant placed in the centre. Above the plant is hanging a plane surface with blue LED lights attached. In addition to this are four loud speakers placed in each corner of the room. In the experience, the participator walks into the room and immerses in an interaction with the plant through bodily movement. A Kinect camera, pointing towards the plant from the ceiling tracks the participator and by the use of programming in Max/MSP, the amount of movement tracked by the Kinect, is turned into light and sound.

On the basis of knowledge of plants’ ability to perceive its environment through light and sound, inspired by recent plant research, it was decided to create a symbolic interaction where the participator is translated into stimuli for the plant to perceive. The experience is meant as an artistic exploration of plants’ ability to perceive light and sound, and thereby to create an interaction between a human and a plant. The purpose is to express new scientific findings through the experience.
