The installation was created after the theme ‘Space of the Imagination’ and placed in the lobby of Nordkraft. By creating an exhibition space with two different audio guides that represent two different interpretations of the artworks, we are able to explore not only the interaction of the visitor with an exhibition space, but also the possible application of imagination into this context.

Factomagine challenges viewers to be active imaginers in the face of art rather than passively absorbing it or waiting for a curator’s wall text to explain the proposed meaning of work. In a sense, the work combats the helplessness visitors feel when confronted with challenging art by encouraging an individualistic, creative interpretation over a dictated academic interpretation. The concept of the work is to illustrate that imagination requires cultivation and examination: utilizing it is a decision that individuals must persistently exercise their imagination in their everyday lives. Without conscious effort to maintain them, imaginations wither in modernity’s high paced, consumer society.
