The semester theme WAW – Waste Art Works, take a stand in installations made from trash. By using trash combined with technology and interactivity, we came up with an installation of 19 jellyfishes made from garbage plastic, steel wire and thread. With shells made from meted plastic, and tentacles sewn from plain white thread and petals cut out of thinner and lighter plastic bags we created the final creature.

We wanted to achieve something aesthetically beautiful in cooperation with an underwater environment. The lightness of the tentacles gave the overall impression of something floating in the water.

We used an UV gun to project light on our plastic jellyfishes, which were lit up all the time. Pink LED diodes connected to a motion sensor lit up when people walked by the swarm. It created an illusion of a living creature that responded to human activity.
