Studytrip

In 2018, 4th semester students visited Viareggio, Italy to learn about the history of and link between carnivals and puppetry. They worked collaboratively with top-ranking international artists, Andrea Passaglia and Elodie Lebigre, within an interdisciplinary format at the annual Carnevale di Viareggio, while learning about puppetry techniques combined with mechatronics to automate the floats. The floats are constructed in the workshop of La Società dell’ Arte, the company of Andrea and Elodie. Additionally the students have been introduced to working with papir mâché through different techniques and also met with Alan Dix (UK), creative arts director/producer, who gave some of his views on and experiences with international collaboration that he has had through his company 509 Productions.
