Come hear about design and design education at Parsons in New York City, where the dynamic is distinctly urban, the perspective is global, and the approach is interdisciplinary and problem-based. Parsons is part of The New School, the progressive, legendary university where the design programs at Parsons both gain from and inform university programs in the social sciences, liberal arts, performance, as well as media, management, and international affairs. Students at Parsons and The New School hail from around the world, and they bring creativity and aspirations to lead change in an increasingly ideas-driven economy.

Tim Marshall is provost of The New School, where he is leading efforts to infuse the programs university-wide with design-inspired thinking and collaboration. He is former dean of Parsons. He has led or consulted on design programs in the U.S., Europe, Australia, and Asia, and he has spoken and written widely on design and education.
